Privacy Policy

CrewTiers is an independent site operated by its owner, who is the data controller for the purposes of UK and EU data protection law. Reach them at gibert.jason@gmail.com.

Information you give us

• Account. Your email address, and a username. Signing in with Google means Google tells us your email address and basic profile details instead of us holding a password; passwords, where you set one, are handled by our sign-in provider and never seen by us.
• Profile. Display name, avatar image, bio, and the categories you pick when you join — all optional except the username.
• Content. Tierlists and their items, cover images, item images, rankings, bias chips, tier descriptions, ratings, comments, crews, and who you follow.
• Messages to us. Feedback and reports you submit, including anything you choose to write in them.

Information collected automatically

• IP address. Your IP reaches our host with every request, as it does with any website, and is used in the moment to spot abusive traffic. We do not write it to our database — there is no column anywhere that stores it.
• Activity. Which tierlists you rank and when, so the site can show your history, streaks and crowd comparisons.
• Ad events. Counts of ads viewed, shown and clicked, which decide how ad revenue is divided between creators. If you are signed in, a view is counted once per tierlist per day, recorded against your account so it cannot be counted twice.
• Page analytics. See Analytics.

Payment information

Paid features are not switched on yet: at the moment nobody can sponsor a tierlist or receive a payout, so no payment information is collected. When they are enabled, Stripe will collect and hold the card or bank details — we will never see or store them, keeping only the Stripe identifiers and amounts needed to show you your own earnings and payout history. We will update this policy before that changes.

This is the part worth reading twice. CrewTiers is built to be social, so the following are readable by anyone on the internet, including people who are not signed in, and may appear in search results:

• Your profile: username, display name, avatar and bio.
• Tierlists you publish, and every ranking you submit — including the order, the tiers you put things in, and any bias chip you attach to an item.
• Your comments, your ratings, and which comments you liked.
• Which crews you belong to, and who you follow.
• That you completed a given tierlist, and when.

The image library. Images attached to items in a published tierlist are indexed into a shared library that anyone can search and reuse in their own tierlists. Images in an unpublished draft are not indexed. If you unpublish or delete a tierlist, its images are removed from the library automatically.

A tierlist you keep unpublished is readable only by you — the database enforces that directly, not just the page that renders it.

• To run your account and show your content to the people it is meant for.
• To calculate crowd averages, consensus rankings and crew comparisons.
• To work out how ad revenue is split between creators, and to pay it out.
• To send you email you asked for — notification digests and account mail such as password resets.
• To detect and stop spam, fraud, vote-stuffing and ad-view inflation.
• To comply with the law and to enforce our Terms.

We do not sell your personal information, share it with data brokers, or use your content to train AI models.

If you are in the UK or EEA, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (running your account), legitimate interests (keeping the site safe and working, and basic analytics), consent (marketing email and personalised ads, where required), and legal obligation (tax and accounting records for payouts).

• Essential cookies. Set by Supabase to keep you signed in. Without them you cannot stay logged in.
• Local storage. Your browser keeps an unsent tierlist draft on your own device, so that ranking something before you log in is not wasted. It never leaves your browser until you save, and clearing site data removes it.
• Advertising cookies.Set by Google, and only after you agree. Nothing is requested from Google until you choose “Accept” on the cookie banner — declining means the advertising script is never loaded at all, and the site works exactly the same. You can change your answer at any time with the Cookie choices link in the footer.

We show ads through Google AdSense, but only to people who have accepted advertising cookies. Google and its partners use those cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites, and may collect your IP address and device information to do it. If you decline, the AdSense script is never loaded and none of that happens.

• Opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings.
• Opt out of other vendors at aboutads.info/choices or optout.networkadvertising.org.
• Opting out stops ads being personalised. It does not stop ads, and nothing else about the site changes.

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to count page views and measure page load performance. Both are designed to work without cookies and without building a profile of you across sites; they report aggregate numbers such as which pages are visited and how fast they load. We do not use Google Analytics.

We share data with the companies that make the site work, each only to the extent they need. We do not sell it to anyone.

• Supabase — database, sign-in, and image storage.
• Vercel — hosting, image delivery, analytics.
• Google — AdSense advertising, and Google sign-in if you use it.
• Stripe — sponsorship payments and creator payouts, once those are switched on. Nothing is sent to Stripe today.
• Resend — delivering notification digests. Sign-in email such as password resets is sent by Supabase instead.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to investigate abuse or protect someone's safety. If CrewTiers is ever sold or transferred, account data would move with it, and we would say so here first.

The providers above operate in the United States and elsewhere, so your information may be processed outside your own country. Where UK or EU law applies, these transfers rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

• Account and content — until you delete them, or delete your account.
• Rate-limit counters — minutes; they expire automatically.
• Payout and ad-revenue records — kept after deletion where tax and accounting law requires it, with your identity removed where we can.
• Feedback and abuse reports — kept after deletion so that moderation history survives, but detached from your account.

• See and change your profile, tierlists and rankings at any time from settings.
• Turn off digest email in settings; account email such as password resets cannot be turned off while you have an account.
• Get a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it — email us and we will respond within 30 days.
• Delete — see below.

If you are in the UK or EEA, you also have the right to object to or restrict processing, the right to data portability, the right to withdraw consent, and the right to complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).

If you are in California, you have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, so there is no sale for you to opt out of. To stop personalised ads, use the Google and vendor opt-outs linked under Advertising.

You can delete your account yourself from settings. It is immediate and cannot be undone. Deleting your account removes your profile, the tierlists you created, your rankings and bias chips, your comments and ratings, your follows, your notifications, and any crew you lead.

Two things deliberately survive, without your name on them:

• Feedback and abuse reports, so moderation decisions stay reviewable.
• Revenue and payout accounting records we are required to keep.

Images you uploaded are removed from the library as soon as the tierlists referencing them are gone, and the files themselves are deleted from storage along with your account. The one exception is an image someone else is still using in their own tierlist — the library invites people to reuse each other's images, and deleting one would break their list rather than tidy up yours. If you need a specific image erased regardless, email us and we will remove it by hand.

Access to your data is enforced in the database itself, row by row, so that one account cannot read another's private rows even if the site had a bug. Traffic is encrypted in transit, passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and never seen by us, and payment details are handled by Stripe. No service can promise perfect security, and we do not.

CrewTiers is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will delete the account.

We will update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and for material changes we will give notice in the product before they take effect.
